Presentation “A foresta e as árbores”

At Cartabón bookshop in Vigo

The Audiovisual Studies Research Group will present in Vigo its last publication, A foresta e as árbores. Para unha historia do cinema en lingua galega (2). The event will take place on next Wednesday 10th of July at 20:30h in the Cartabón bookshop with the participation of Franciso Castro, director of Galaxia, as well as Marta Pérez Pereiro e Xosé Nogueira, two of the book’s authors and professors in the Faculties of Communication Sciences and Geography and History of the USC.

The volume continues the study that was begun by Marcas na Paisaxe. Para unha historia do cinema en lingua galega (I), both texts linked to the R+D+i project “EUVOS. Intangible Cultural Heritage. For a European Programme for Subtitling in Non-Hegemonic languages”. Edited under the coordination of Margarita Ledo Andión, professor of Audiovisual Communication, the book creates, from the gaze of the eight participant researchers, a thematic itinerary to understand current Galician cinema.

«Prefacio». Margarita Ledo Andión

In this way, the analyzed films, reflection of the diversity in last decades Galcian cinematography, advances from the duel for a world that is vanishing to the veiled —what is not talked about— in our history; from desire and its drifts to the need of filming the intimate and ourselves. It is, hence, a fundamental work to understand our own cinema, allowing to see the forest that is hidden among the fertile and plural leafiness of the trees.
