Phd in Geography and History from Universidade de Santiago de Compostela.Professor of Audiovisual Communication and Publicity at the Facultade de Ciencias da Comunicación of the Universidade de Santiago. He is the author, among other books, of Vértigo / De entre los muertos (Paidós, 1999), El surgimiento del telefilme (Paidós, 1999), Alfred Hitchcock (Cátedra, 2000), Un cinema herido (Paidós, 2002), Cine y exilio. Forma(s) de la ausencia (Vía Láctea, 2004), Fernando Fernán-Gómez (Cátedra, 2010), Del sainete al esperpento (con Josetxo Cerdán, Cátedra, 2011) or Sombras desoladas. Costumbrimos, humor, melancolía y reflexividad en el cine español de los años cuarenta (1939-1950) (Santander, 2012). He is the editor of several collective books on aspects of film history, and in 2006 he edited along with Julio Pérez Perucha and Santos Zunzunegui, La nueva memoria.
