XIII International Congress Lusocom

Communication and information for development

The directions of Lusocom and Acicom organized in Maputo on November 28, 29 and 30, 2018, the XIII Congress of the Lusocom.

After the Cidade de Praia, Cabo Verde, in October 2016, this meeting will have as its specific theme “Communication and information for or development”. Under this theme, it seeks to bring together teachers and researchers of Communication Sciences to identify common areas of interest, highlight singularities and idiosyncrasies and effectively exploit ways of cooperation and exchange, always with the concern of promoting rigor and quality. Communication and information are, historically, instruments that drive changes, the search for peace and the development of societies. With the advancement of technologies, digital communication brings important elements for human development, hence today the human being seeks and invents all forms that expand their capacity, with quality, to make themselves heard, as well as to hear their peers and with them share their being and their knowledge. Beyond the effective system of information management, Mozambique, as well as the other member countries of Lusocom, should move from the analogue system to the digital broadcasting of radio and television. The global objective is to change the way citizens should access broadcasting services. This process has many advantages and opportunities, but it also has many challenges. Faced with the changes provided by the digital broadcasting system and public information management, content producers, regulatory authorities and academics are called to the debate on three thematic areas: i) digital radio and television: audiovisual production challenges, quality and diversity of contents; ii) search and education in Communication for Development; and iii) labor market trends and opportunities for communication and information professionals and the challenges of institutions of higher education, research and extension. In this perspective, Lusocom and Acicom invite the researchers to present work proposals that can contribute to broaden the debate to the reality of the Portuguese-speaking countries. Work proposals that, in each thematic group, keep these issues in mind and discuss them in the perspective of the Lusophony will be welcomed.
