On Wednesday the 6th and Thursday the 7th of November 2024, the 11th edition of CO(M)XÉNERO, organised by the Grupo de Estudos Audiovisuais (GEA), will address the essential and often underrated role of women in cinema, understand how they have become versatile and multifaceted figures as well as review their creative endeavour through different occupations within the industry.

The seminar will start on the 6th of November with the contribution of Xaime Varela Sieiro, researcher and teacher at the IES Arcebispo Xelmírez II in Santiago de Compostela. His presentation will bring back the figure of the sound engineer Cruz Risco, creator of Por que marchamos (1979). Afterwards, Carme Rodríguez, composer and orchestrator, will clarify, from her own experience, what it means to compose for the audiovisual industry.

Ana Viñuela, professor and researcher at the Université Paris 3 Sorbonne Nouvelle, will open the second day of the seminar diving deeper into the world of co-production by explaining the french model and the case of O que arde (2019), a well-known co-production between Galicia, France and Luxembourg. To conclude the seminar, Pilar Monsell, director, editor, screenwriter and researcher at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) in Barcelona, will provide an in-depth analysis of her own creative process in the non-fiction genre.

Resgistration is free of charge until full capacity is reached. It will be open until the 4th of November through this form.
