Seminar “Película sen facer. Elementos dun cinema latente’.
On 1 and 2 June, at the (S8) Mostra de Cinema Periférico da Coruña.
The seminar, part of the (S8) Mostra de Cinema Periférico da Coruña, aimed at artists, curators, filmmakers, programmers, researchers, archivists and students, with free access, revolves around unfinished films or films whose completion was truncated for political, financial or personal reasons, which will take us through territories such as Iran, Morocco, South Korea or Spain.
International filmmakers, programmers, researchers and archivists such as Katie Kirkland (United States), Léa Morin (France), Tara Najd Ahmadi (Iran), Concha Barquero and Alejandro Alvarado (Spain) will take part. The latter two will present their research into Fernando Ruiz Vergara’s unfinished projects, with special emphasis on Rocío, a 1980 documentary that was selected for the Venice Film Festival and shortly afterwards hijacked by a Sevillian court for including testimonies that gave names and surnames to those responsible for the repression in 1936 in Almonte (Huelva). Those attending the seminar will be able to see not only the documentary, but also the piece Descartes (2021), the result of research by Barquero and Alvarado, and 28F Andalucía (1981) by Nonio Parejo.
