“Orixe is a photographic tale of our updated past”
‘Orixe’ is a photographic exhibition in which the students of Journalism of the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) shaped their memories of childhood. This exhibition, framed within the practices of Contemporary Photography, is divided into three different perspectives to know the personal beginnings of the students. A space is dedicated to recreate a small photograph, returning to the place where the snapshot was taken. A second part focuses on the objects that most marked those people: from a book to a toy and finally, the third of the divisions of this exhibition, immortalizes that place that so many memories brings from the first years of life, like the house of the grandparents or the beach.
In the presentation, besides the students themselves, the professor of the subject Andrés Fraga and the representatives of the Audiovisual Studies Group, Margarita Ledo and Marta Pérez were present. The students, stressed the importance of this project, which “makes you look back and remember those places or objects that, whether they have changed or not, are really important for us.” Profesor Ledo stressed the fundamental of this type of actions, adding that this exhibition, like those of previous years, will be edited by the Group of Audiovisual Studies in a publication that allows to document the first three years of this photographic initiative. Ledo remarked that actions like this fall within the line of photographic research carried out by Professor Andrés Fraga within the group.
The project, which consists of 50 photographs that can be visualized in three spaces of the unique structure of the Faculty of Sciences of Communication of Santiago de Compostela, will be available until mid-October and is free.
