Inauguration of Virtus, technological platform for virtual research of the USC
Virtus, USC’s technological platform for virtual research, was created as a common space for advanced virtual solutions for teaching innovation and research dissemination as well as for technology and knowledge transfer to the Galician ICT and audiovisual sector. Its potential will be presented at the ‘Jornada de Puertas a Virtus’ on Wednesday 23rd October at the Faculty of Communication Sciences of the USC. To attend this event, prior registration is required. The deadline for registration is 22 October.
Open to the entire university community and the audiovisual and ICT sector, Virtus is born with the impulse of European funding from the Next Generation programme. Its functioning and work possibilities will be explained during the conference, which will be opened at 9.30 a.m. by the rector Antonio López, with the vice-rector for Science Policy, Pilar Bermejo; the rector’s delegate for Knowledge Transfer, Luis Otero, and the dean of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Ana Isabel Rodríguez.
The platform will then be presented by its scientific director, Enrique Castelló; the technical director, Roi Méndez; and the audiovisual technician Manuel Fidalgo, and the round table ‘Virtus in the Academy: teaching and research, followed by a round of visits to the facilities. The second round table, aimed at the audiovisual and ICT sector, will assess the possibilities of joint projects, and at the end of the round table there will be another round of visits to the facilities.
The afternoon will be devoted to virtual technology workshops, given from 4 p.m. by Miguel Jiménez Moya, from Brainstorm Multimedia, and The Argounauts, technology partners of Virtus.
