Women and Innovation in the Intermedia Arts
Under the program "Culture is a right"
On the 8th and 9th of April the Colon Theater hosts the conferences Women and Innovation in the Intermedia Arts. The event aims to explore the connections between digital networks and performing arts, in order to become a motor of creative innovation and contemporary thinking. It also incorporates a gender program that seeks to promote the visibility of women within the framework of Media_arts.
The director, researcher and professor, Margarita Ledo, will be part of one of the round tables entitled Intermediate Art, Occupation Territory? Gender contributions, which seeks to incorporate, from the diverse professional perspectives of the participants, a polyhedral image of the presence of women in ACTS contexts (Arts, Science, Technology and Society). The coordinator of the Audiovisual Studies Group will be accompanied by the computer science engineer Nieves Rodríguez Brisaboa and also by the director María Ruido, in a conversation moderated by Silvia García González, dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts of Pontevedra. Under the heading “Recognize the body, recognize the speech” Ledo proposes a walk through his most loving and personal work based on the relationship between body and speech of the actress María Casares in the film of Alain Resnais Gernika (1945).
In addition to the seminars, among the activities promoted, there will be two theatrical shows, 14SKYLINE by Kònnica Thtr and Sofía, by Marta Pérez (from the play Sofía and the Postsocratics by Inversa Teatro), or the interactive installation The plants sense, by María Castellanos and Alberto Valverde. There will also be a theoretical-practical workshop on videopoetry by Belén Montero, director of Versograms, and another on Digital Creation, taught by María Castellanos.
The conferences take place under the “Culture is a right” program of the Deputación da Coruña, and were curated by Rosa Sánchez, artistic director of the ECOSS festival, unexpected ecosystems and the Kònic Teatro Intermediate Art Company (Barcelona).
