Last call for proposals for the12th Small Cinemas International Conference
The deadline for receiving abstracts ends on June 10
The Grupo de Estudos Audiovisuais (Audiovisual Studies Research Group) of the USC is in charge of organizing the 12th edition of the Small Cinemas International Conference, an annual itinerant meeting that brings together researchers from all over the world who are leaders in the study of so-called small cinemas, cinematographies of countries and cultures with minority languages, nations without a state or political entities with unique statutes. The event will be held at the Faculty of Communication Sciences of Santiago de Compostela, from October 28 to 30, 2021.
Under the title From celluloid to streaming: conservation and circulation of small cinemas, the new edition of the congress focuses on the unique transformations of the circulation and diffusion of films since the arrival of streaming and its impact on cinematographies with endemic problem visibility. At the same time, it addresses the conservation of the works produced by these cinemas in the archives and film collections as an indispensable means for the defense and promotion of cultural heritage and diversity.
The deadline for receiving communications is open until June 10.
