The Research Project on the Post-war Spanish Cinema collaborates in the organization of a Congress on Torrente Ballester and Spanish Cinema
Thursday 18 and Friday 19 will be held in Santiago de Compostela the congress Gonzalo Torrente Ballester y/en el cine, organized by the Research Project of the University of Vigo Gonzalo Torrente Ballester (III) (FFI2012-34025. Mineco – Gobierno de España), with the collaboration of the Research Project of the University of Santiago de Compostela Towards a reconsideration of postwar culture: analysis of the Modes of Representation in Spanish cinema (1939-1962) from Wenceslao Fernández Flórez’s mark (CSO2012-34648. Mineco – Gobierno de España) and Fundación Gonzalo Torrente Ballester.
The congress will be directed by Carmen Becerra Suárez and José Luis Castro de Paz (Principal Investigators of both projects) and will involve experts in film research (José Luis Castro de Paz, Julio Pérez Perucha, Santos Zunzunegui, Alejandro Montiel, Manuel Palacio, and Héctor Paz Otero), many of them members of the team of the project on the post-war Spanish cinema.
Several lectures on the relationship between the writer and the Spanish cinema will alternate with the screening of the films Rebeldía (1953) and Surcos (1951), directed by José Antonio Nieves Conde and scripted by Gonzalo Torrente Ballester.
All sessions will take place in the Fundación Gonzalo Torrente Ballester with free entry. Will be certified for assistance.
The film Morlaix will be screened in the auditorium of the Faculty of Communication Sciences of the University of Santiago de Compostela on Tuesday, February 4, at 11 am.
