Screening and discussion: Morlaix (Jaime Rosales, 2024) on 4 February
The screening and discussion will take place in the Auditorium of the Faculty of Communication.
The film Morlaix will be screened in the auditorium of the Faculty of Communication Sciences of the University of Santiago de Compostela on Tuesday, February 4, at 11 am. Afterwards there will be a colloquium attended by the director of the film, Jaime Rosales, the Professor of Audiovisual Communication and Advertising José Luis Castro de Paz and students of the faculty.
Shot partly in 35mm black and white and partly in 16mm colour, the film is about life as a transcendental poetic experience. Combining natural actors with professional actors, the mise-en-scène emerges thanks to the actors’ more or less free, more or less guided improvisations. To tell the part of the story embodied by the adult characters, we have been able to count on the exceptional participation of Mélanie Thierry and Alex Brendemühl.
Synopsis of the film:
Gwen is in her last year of high school. Her mother has just died. She lives in Morlaix, a small village in Brittany. In the middle of the school year, Jean-Luc, a sophisticated, cultured and magnetic Parisian, arrives in Morlaix. Intrigued by his poetic personality, Gwen cannot help but be attracted to him.
One day, Gwen and her group of friends go to the cinema and discover a film whose plot seems to reflect what the young woman is going through. As they watch the film, it is obvious that Gwen will choose young Jean-Luc. Their story is short, intense and disturbing.
