Tautotelevision, the model that defines the monopoly of Galician public television

The tautotelevision model of Televisión de Galicia (TVG), defined by thematic repetition and industrial limitations, generates an identity simulacrum that contradicts the plurality mandate of Law 9/2011. Overcoming it requires institutional counterweights, independent media, and active citizen participation to break the self-referential circularity.

Thus, the public television entity is characterised as a hyperreal monopoly, reconfiguring contemporary censorship through strategies of discursive seduction and the construction of alternative narratives (Baudrillard’s hyperreality). This system turns TVG into a propagandistic instrument of political power, promoting a stereotypical image of Galicia—with an emphasis on ruralism and a decidedly elitist perspective—that marginalises its true social plurality. Its efficacy is articulated through economic, social, and content control.
