Margarita Ledo takes part in the presentation of the project “Cinema e Muller” at the Mostra de Cinema Periférico (S8)
Margarita Ledo, coordinator of the Estudos Audiovisuais Research Group, will take part on saturday 4 June, at the (S8) Room of A Coruña’s PALEXCO, in a debate on cinema and gender as a part of the presentation of the project “Cinema e Muller” (“Cinema and Women”) at the seventh edition of the (S8) Mostra de Cinema Periférico. The debate will be conducted by Ángel Suanzes and the promoters of the project, Xisela Franco and Beli Martínez, will also participate, as well as Diana Toucedo, Jaione Camborda, Carla Andrade and Xiana Gómez-Díaz. The latter will also be the subject of a special session at the Mostra in which her films will be shown.
The project, promoted by the Deputation of Pontevedra, has the intention of providing visibility to the creators of the audiovisual in order to foster a greater participation of women in the creation of culture and art. The initiative includes, besides the organization of talks and an exhibition of Galician cinema that took place between Pontevedra and Vigo this past march, a mapping of women directors related to the province and a collaborative film, Visións, which will be screened to close the event and includes the following short films: Listen to Me by Carla Andrade, Proxectar-se by Eva Calvar, 1/2 by Olaia Sendón, Ambos mundos by Claudia Brenlla, Ei, guapa! by Sonia Méndez, Aava by Andrea Zapata-Girau, Aquí dentro by Lara Bacelo, Zeitübergreifend by Begoña M. Santiago, Voguing by Carme Nogueira and Corpo preto by Diana Toucedo.
This edition of the (S8), which will take place between the 1 and 5 June, is named “The new impressionists”, and will bring together filmmakers as Stephen Broomer or Jacques Perconte, besides dedicating a historical programme to the filmmaker, theorist and critic Germaine Dulac.
