“Photography is a silent language” Interview with Anna Turbau

Anna Turbau (Barcelona, 1949) is a Catalan photographer known for the images she took in Galicia from 1975 onwards, which helped to make visible many of the popular demands carried out in that context. Although Anna Turbau is mainly associated with her work as a photojournalist, she also carried out documentary projects. Through them she was able to develop her own discourse on the reality that was being experienced. The photographic legacy she created for Galicia has aroused great interest in the Spanish art scene, and some of her photographs have been acquired by prestigious institutions such as the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía. In this interview, conducted on a spring afternoon, we talk about his beginnings, her love for Galicia, the deep respect she has for the women who are the protagonists of her images, and everything that the medium of photography has given her, and continues to give her.
