A cultural podcast about the theater cafés of Compostela, a sound map of the city, a photographic tour of the neighborhoods or small audiovisual pieces are some of the results of the educational innovation project ‘Towards a participatory governance of the tangible and intangible cultural heritage in the city of Santiago de Compostela ‘ which will be presented on Wednesday, at the Faculty of Communication Sciences. Coordinated by the professor of Communication Sciences and member of the Grupo de Estudos Audiovisusi, Enrique Castelló, the initiative is presented under the format of Service Learning (ApS), a new pedagogical methodology based on a participatory, committed and critical didactic model. It consists of an evolutive and continuous learning in which each subject transcends the margins of the classroom so that the student becomes a volunteer with the capacity to isolate a social need or problem in its immediate surroundings and contribute to its improvement through the implementation of the contents of the subject. “The fundamental objective of this APS aims at citizen empowerment in the participative governance of its tangible and intangible heritage from the creativity and innovative capacity of our students”, explains Castelló. The results of this APS, which involves more than 350 students from three faculties, will be presented on Wednesday 26 at 11.30 am in an event that will be chaired by the Vice Chancellor of Academic Organization of the USC, Celia Besteiro, and what the mayor will attend Martiño Noriega. Professor Enrique Castelló, students Nuria Cancela and Alba Pego, professor of Education Sciences and member of the Grupo de investigación Esculca Alexandre Sotelino , and the president of the Raigame Neighborhood Association, José Manuel Durán, will also speak.
