The Galician Academy of Audiovisual held on Wednesday, April 3rd, at the Marcos Valcárcel Cultural Center, the award ceremony of the third edition of the María Luz Morales. These prizes promote scientific research in the audiovisual field, with an economic endowment of 1.200 euros for two video-essays and two written essays, grouped into one Galician and one international category. This edition was marked by an increase in participation that represents the consolidation of this recognition, reaching a record number of 36 works presented.

The four winners were Sara Varela (1994) as the best Video-essay on Galician Audiovisual with B Positivos, Eire García (1991) as the best Video-essay on International Audiovisual with Propaganda de guerra, Pepe Coira as the best Written Essay on Galician Audiovisual with «Argumentos de películas», and Xurxo González as the best Essay Written on International Audiovisual with «O palco dum povo: Oliveira 2.0». The high level of the works received has led the jury to also award an accesit in each category. Irene Basanta Pin, member of the Audiovisual Studies Research Group, received this recognition on Galician Audiovisual Video-essay for Nós, as desenfocadas. The jury highlighted the need to continue discussing the question she presents, following the methods of part of feminist film criticism, about the role of women in Galician cinema.

The rest of the accesit were to Denisse Lozano for Series Diferentes (Video-essay on Internacional Audiovisual), Sara Donoso for «Unha aproximación a mimosas (Oliver Laxe) desde a pintura, a paisaxe e a mística» (Written Essay on Galician Audiovisual) and Antón Varela for «Dialéctida da suplantación: imaxe, espectador e ultracorpos» (Written Essay on International Audiovisual).
